Whole Foods bought by Amazon for 13.7 billion!

Online retail giant Amazon.com announced Friday that it is buying organic grocery chain Whole Foods (WFM) for $13.7 billion in cash.  Whole Foods stores will continue operating under that name as a separate unit of the company.

As a big Whole Foods fan, there are a few questions to ask.

Is this deal really that surprising?

Will Amazon change the way we buy fresh food (fish, meat, vegetables) and organic items?

Is Amazon trying to shift food shopping to online?
