Skip Hop Duo Diaper Bag Review

The Skip Hop Duo diaper bag was one of the items I was most excited to receive from my Babies R Us registry. I’ve been carrying it for about 8 months now and overall I love it, but there are a few things that I think could be improved. The Duo comes in numerous prints, many of them gender neutral, and costs $69.99.

Features I Love:
1. Style – I love that the Duo doesn’t look too much like a diaper bag. I dreaded giving up my purses to carry a diaper bag, but I honestly don’t mind taking this one. I chose the special edition herringbone print and the colors are perfect.
2. Cleans up easily – The material can be wiped down with a wet cloth.
3. Mom compartment – There is a shallow pocket completely separate from the main compartment that is perfect for holding my things. This keeps my stuff from getting mixed in with Vivienne’s and prevents me from having to open the main compartment to get what I need.
4. Outer pockets – The Duo has two outer front pockets with magnetic closures, two side zip pockets, and a large open pocket in the back for the changing pad that comes with the bag. The front two are great for things I need to reach quickly, like my phone and keys.
5. Stroller straps – Two adjustable straps can attach the Duo to a stroller handle bar.
6. Longevity – This is a bag that I will keep and use for traveling long after we stop needing a diaper bag.

Areas for improvement:
1. Main compartment – I feel that the main compartment should be a little larger. I can fit diapers, diaper cream, a thin wipe case, a few bottles, toys, an extra outfit, and a rolled swaddle blanket, but it’s a tight fit. More room would mean I don’t need to take out a couple of things while I’m digging around for a certain item. Also, when colder weather hits and Vivienne needs a thicker blanket, there is no way one will fit.
2. Small inside pockets – The Duo has two small pockets in the main compartment. I would like for these to be larger. Four pockets would be even better than two.
