Let's talk about Jews. Ok, I know most posts that start with this end up going off the deep end but listen to me.

It's almost time for a major Jewish Holiday Passover. The story of exodus celebrated annually by Jews worldwide. This Story is one about the Jewish perseverance. I am not going to share the entire story of exodus, as many of you probably know it. What I am going to talk briefly about is the Jewish culture and why education has been critical to Jews around the world.

During the 18th and 19th century the Jewish peoples were cast out of Russia and Europe en-masse. Many found their way to the America the land of opportunity.

The Jews that came over typically found themselves hated and outcast from society. Many of them formed their own communities inside of major metropolitan areas such as Chicago and New York. The reason for this is major metropolitan areas allowed the Jews to find work that did not require a lot of existing tools or property. Anybody off the boat could apply in a factory and begin working. With the meager savings, they saved up. Many Jews began the merchant lifestyle of buying and selling what they could get their hands on as a way to supplement their income. From there they raised their next generation to learn the value of education so they could skip the hardships their parents had to overcome to establish themselves.

This self-identity with the struggles and challenges of their own people led many young Jews into the world of Business and Sciences.

The Jewish people have thrived on the adversity presented to them. Every time someone tried to enslave them, kill them, or restrict them. They have always held fast to their beliefs, community, and traditions. This has resulted in the Jewish people always coming back and thriving more so than ever before.

So when Passover happens this year, Don't just think of the struggle, Celebrate the overcoming of oppression.
