In the closest finale in years, Nicole beat your boy Paul on the Big Brother 18 on the final vote, and she's just as surprised as you are by her narrow victory. Paul came out guns blazing with his speech. The Season 16 alum, who became the first woman to beat a man in the final two, gained the votes of Corey (duh), Natalie, Paulie, Zakiyah and Da'Vonne, whose key was the last to be revealed, while Paul had the support of James, Victor (duh), Michelle and Bridgette. Nicole is still not sure what pushed her over the edge for the win, especially being a vet. Big Brother 18 winner revealed "That's what I'm curious about," she says. People might think it's an advantage, but people knew my game. The $500,000 appeared to be Paul's to lose after he stormed through the final week, wining the last four comps in which he was eligible to play and delivering one helluva convincing speech about his bonafides. [...] I don't regret anything I did. Based on all the interviews [I've done], people expect me to be more sad. Before you give Paul grief for not taking James to the final two, know this: Convince me to take you.' He convinced me to take him. [...] I think that's why I was so chill in the last comp because I just said, 'Whatever happens is meant to happen,' she says. The fact that I didn't have Corey in the house this week, I cried in that DR a ton because I kept saying, 'I want to take Paul.' [...] today I decided to take Paul and if I lost to Paul, I was going to be so content because I thought he played a great game and he deserved to at least sit in the final two. [...] what does the rest of the cast and Julie Chen think about the tight finish and Paul's half-a-million choice (mistake?)? data-image-credit=Sonja Flemmiing, CBS data-image-alt-text=Big Brother 18 data-image-credit-url= data-image-target-url= data-image-title=Big Brother 18 data-image-filename=160922-news-big-brother.jpg data-image-date-created=2016/09/22 data-image-crop= data-image-crop-gravity= data-image-aspect-ratio= data-image-height=1333 data-image-width=2000 data-image-do-not-crop= data-image-do-not-resize= data-image-watermark= data-lightbox=> Julie Chen: I am not surprised it was so close because when I was doing my calculations with every calculation of who made it to the final two, when I had it as Nicole versus Paul, the only sure thing I knew was that Victor was going to vote for Paul and Corey was voting for Nicole. Honestly, coming into the live show tonight, I thought Paul was going to win no matter who he was against, but after I heard how they answered those questions from the jury -- that stuff really counts at the end. If you have the power to persuade -- and Paul knows how to talk -- his answers were not great and he didn't show any remorse for Natalie's questions. James was probably more well liked, but at the end of the day, I think this jury was ready to put their hurt feelings and egos at the door and vote for the person who earned it. James: I voted for Paul because he didn't know anything about the game when he came on. [...] the fact that he survived the block six times, no one tried to take a stab at him, and any time I tried to take him out, no one wanted to. Nicole never really went against me in the show. In my final week, I went up to [Paul] and I told him he and Victor had my final if they made it to final two - obviously not over James - and he made fun of me for it and he went behind my back and didn't believe it and just really pooped on me. When I heard he was pooping on me, I decided he lost my final two vote. [...] ! James played a great game, but I know we all feel Paul played a better game. For me, I was sitting there weighing both of them and I realized Nicole made it through all these competitive dudes who were just crushing the game. If James had been there, then I knew for sure I was going to pick the other person, to be honest, just because I think both Paul's and Nicole's gameplay were so impressive. From what I did see, I was like, "Why wouldn't you take him?" I would've voted for Paul.
