Target Recalls 90,000 USB Lightening Cables That Reportedly Are Sparking, Smoking, Or Causing Finger Burns
Apple device owners, check your USB Lightening cables right away if you purchased or were given an USB cable from Target. Target is recalling over 90,000 lightening USB cables that are of the ‘heyday’ brand. These cables came in green, blue, and purple. You can also identify whether or not your USB cable is part of the recall by checking the model number which is on the side of the products packaging: 080 08 8261
The lightening cable is used to power many of Apples devices such as the iPhone 6, 7, 8 and X versions as well as iPads and more. Target has received reports that the cables could exhibit the following symptoms: smoking, sparking, igniting which can lead to finger burns, which they received two reports of. These issues are suspected to occur if the metal around the cord contacts the USB wall charger plug prongs while charging.
Consumers are urged to discard the USB charger or return it to Target for a full refund by contacting the retailer at 800-440-0680.
