Sun Microsystems Announces Plans to Cut 6,000 Jobs
In an effort to cut costs and move forward with a restructuring plan computer hardware manufacturer Sun Microsystems has announced they will cut about 6,000 jobs, nearly 18% of its total workforce.
Sun Microsystems has never fully recovered from the internet bubble burst and with the credit crunch that has paralyzed the global economy the high-end computer manufacturer has seen sales drop dramatically.
The layoffs, thought to be long overdue, are to be implemented over the next year and could save the company between $700 to $800 million per year.
