National Senior Games Embrace Cornhole as an Exciting Addition to the Competition

Get ready for an exciting addition to the upcoming National Senior Games in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania! From July 7 to July 18, 2023, the world's largest qualified multisport event will feature the inclusion of cornhole as one of its prestigious competitions, in collaboration with the American Cornhole Organization (ACO).

The National Senior Games, which began in 1987 and is held biennially, has grown into a remarkable showcase of athletic talent. In 2019, the event held in Albuquerque, New Mexico, saw a record-breaking participation of 13,712 athletes aged 50 and above. Anticipation is already building within the athletic community for the 2023 edition.

While most of the twenty-two sports in the competition require athletes to qualify through one of the National Senior Games Association's 52 Member Games, cornhole offers a unique opportunity. In this year's event, the Sport of Cornhole has been designated as an Open Sport, eliminating the need for a qualifying process.

Exciting cornhole competitions will be held at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center from July 7 to July 9, serving as the lively hub of fun, fitness, and camaraderie during the National Senior Games. Participants will engage in thrilling matches across various categories, including Singles, Doubles, Mixed Doubles, and Non-Ambulatory.

National Senior Games Sport Competition Information

More than 1,100 metal Events will be contested during this event. The 22 Metal Sports include, Cornhole, Archery, Badminton, Basketball, Beach Volleyball, Bowling, Cycling, Golf, Pickleball, Power Walk, Race Walk, Racquetball, Road Race, Shuffleboard, 7x7 Soccer, Softball, Swimming, Table Tennis, Tennis, Track & Field, Triathlon, and Volleyball. Gold, Silver, and Bronze metals, plus Ribbons for 4^th- 8^th places, are awarded for each Age Division in each Event.
