Millersville University on Lockdown for Hours After Shooting Threat

Millersville University locked down campus buildings for about two hours Tuesday after there was a threat of a campus shooter.

The university asked students, faculty and staff to stay inside while they searched for the student, then lifted the alert when he was located at the school library.

The student has yet to be identified nor has it been reported if the student actually had a weapon.

The alert was sparked by a professor who called the police after receiving an e-mail from a student who was scared to come to class. There was no attack and no one was injured.

During the lockdown only a few students were seen walking on campus, and Millersville spokeswoman Janet Kacskos said a new notification system that uses e-mails and text messages appeared to work effectively.

Millersville University, a school with an enrollment of 8,000 students, is near Lancaster, about 60 miles west of Philadelphia.
