US News and World Report Releases 2009 Medical School Rankings

U.S. News and World Report released their 2009 medical school rankings Friday. Harvard University took the top spot as the nation's premier medical school for research, while the University of Washington was tops for primary care.

As far as research, Harvard is followed by Johns Hopkins University, Washington University in St. Louis, University of Pennsylvania and University of California-San Francisco round out the top five.

Duke University, University of Washington, Stanford University, University of California-Los Angeles (Geffen) and Yale University round out the top 10.

Harvard received a perfect score of 100 in research, while Johns Hopkins scored a 82.

As far as primary care, the University of Washington is followed by Oregon Health and Science University, University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, University of Colorado-Denver and University of Vermont round out the top five.

University of California-San Francisco, Baylor College of Medicine, Harvard University, Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, University of Iowa (Carver) and University of California--Los Angeles (Geffen) round out the top 10. 

University of Washington received a perfect score of 100 in primary care, while Oregon Health and Science and UNC-Chapel both scored a 92.
