Southwest Airlines to Apologize to Man Wearing “Master Baiter” T-shirt

Atlanta, Ga. 10/7/2007 2:15:03 AM

Southwest Airlines has found themselves in an all to familiar situation as they announced that they would apologize to a passenger after an employee told the man he would have to change his shirt, turn it inside out, or exit the plane due to the message emblazoned on the front.

Joe Winiecki boarded a Southwest Airlines flight in Columbus, Ohio en route to Largo, Florida but he was quickly approached by an employee who told him that the T-shirt he was wearing was inappropriate. The comical T-shirt depicted a fishing shop with the phrase “Master Baiter.”

While Winiecki was upset with the order, he changed his shirt so that he wouldn’t miss the flight.

On Friday Southwest Airlines spokesman Chris Mainz admitted that the employee who forced Winiecki to change his shirt was wrong because the carrier does not have a dress code.

Earlier this summer Southwest Airlines apologized to Kyla Ebbert, a 23-year-old college student, after making her cover up her denim skirt that they said was too short.
