With the holiday season around the corner motorists will have to prepare themselves for near record high prices in travel costs according to AAA.
Gas prices have traditionally dropped around Thanksgiving holiday, spurring travelers to jump into their cars and drive but this year those travelers will be faced with higher than normal prices when it comes to filing up their tank. In some cases more than a dollar a gallon.
Largely attributed to the oil prices, motorists have been paying an average of $3.11 a gallon and a report from the Energy Information Administration predicted those prices could rise by another 10 cents by December.
AAA expects 31.2 million motorists will travel for the Thanksgiving weekend, undeterred by the higher fuel prices.
Gas prices near record highs at a time of year when they typically decline will not deter drivers from hitting the road this Thanksgiving, AAA said Thursday. Robert L. Darbelnet, president and CEO of AAA said, “Thanksgiving is traditionally a time for family gatherings, and higher gas will not discourage Americans from reconnecting with their loved ones.”
