Chicago Bears Beat Indianapolis Colts in Monday Night Football Super Bowl Rematch
While there wasn’t as much at stake as there was when the Bears and the Colts last met Chicago fans will take the 27-24 victory in Indianapolis and hope it’s a sign of things to come.
Rex Grossman played most of the first half for the Bears and completed 9 of 11 passed for 59 yards and scored on a one yard keeper to give Chicago a 10-7 lead in the second quarter.
The Bears pushed their lead to 17-7 after Brian Griese hit Bernard Berrian on a nine-yard touchdown pass late in the first half but the Colts cut their deficit to three when Jim Sorgi hit Aaron Moorehead on a nine-yard touchdown pass. Adam Vinatieri then equaled the score at 17-17 with a 32-yard field goal as time expired in the half.
Chicago tacked on ten points in the third quarter with an Adrian Peterson one-yard touchdown run and a 35-yard Nick Novak field goal.
Peyton Manning finished his short night completing 5 of 8 for 61 yards. Indy finished the game with four turnovers, two coming from the arm of backup quarterback Josh Betts who tossed a pair of interceptions.
