New York Giants QB Eli Manning Fires Back at Tiki Barber
New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning fired back at former teammate turned NBC football analyst Tiki Barber took shots at his leadership abilities.
It was during halftime of the Giants Sunday night match-up against the Baltimore Ravens that Barber called Manning’s inability to lead New York “comical.” Barber didn’t hold back as he threw the 26-year-old under the bus on live television.
Barber called into question Manning’s make-up as a leader saying, his personality hasn't been so that he can step up, make a strong statement and have people believe that it's coming from his heart.”
Manning responded to the Giants all-time rushing leader by saying “I guess I could have questioned his leadership skills last year with calling out the coach and having articles about him retiring in the middle of the season, and he's lost the heart (to play).”
It seems Manning could even remember the exact time week when Barber’s heart seemed to go out, “as a quarterback you're reading that your running back has lost the heart to play the game and it's about the 10th week.”
Tiki Barber’s retirement announcement in the middle of last year was seen as a major distraction for the Giants and caused a rift between Barber, head coach Tom Coughlin and the rest of the New York squad.
