Little League World Series Goes to Georgia for Second Straight Year
The second longest Little League World series ended in dramatic style on Sunday afternoon as Warner Robins, Georgia beat Japan 3-2 on a home run from Dalton Carriker in the bottom of the eight.
The blast that cleared the right-field wall capped a rally from a 2-0 deficit and kept the Little League title in the state of Georgia for the second consecutive year.
Kendall Scott provided a strong five-plus innings of relief work for Georgia as he allowed just one hit and struck out 10 to keep his team in the game. Eventually the Warner Robins offense responded in the form of a walk-off homer for the LLWS title.
The eight innings played tied the mark of the 1979 contest between Chinese Taipei and California. The longest LLWS contest was in 1971 when Chinese Taipei beat Indiana in nine innings.
Warner Robins became the third team from Georgia to win the title; Columbia won it all last year and the team from East Marietta won in 1983.
