Maxwell Announces First Concert Tour in Six Years
Maxwell announced his new concert tour was announced recently, according to reports on Monday. The tour will be his first in six years.
The North American tour will begin Boston on October 8 and includes stops in New York City, Atlanta and Los Angeles, according to a press release on Sunday.
The live concert dates will be a "pre-party tour celebration" for Maxwell's upcoming trilogy album Black Summers' Night. The trilogy album will begin with Black, which will be released in 2008. Summers' will follow in 2009 and Night will be released in 2010.
An audio snippet of his new song "Pretty Wings" from Black was also featured on his MySpace page earlier this year.
Maxwell, 35, made a surprising return at the 2008 BET Awards, where he performed the song "Simply Beautiful" in a tribute to Al Green.
His last album was Now in 2001 and his last public performance was over five years ago. Maxwell, one of the originators of the neo-soul genre, has been nominated for five Grammys and all three of his albums have been certified platinum.
