Copper Canyon Motorcycle Tour From MotoDiscovery Has Been Redesigned For 2016

Copper Canyon and the Sierra Madres are a destination that MotoDiscovery has been riding longer than anyone. Newly paved roads and construction throughout the region has robbed us of some of our old favorites. Not to worry though. The newly redesigned Copper Canyon Expedition Motorcycle Tour for 2016 has some thrill rides in the Sierra Madres that will peak the excitement of even the most veteran Copper Canyon riders.

Starting March 12 of 2016, and returning three more times throughout the year, the Copper Canyon Expedition Motorcycle Tour is an 8 day 1,450 mile adventure discovering authentic Mexico throughout Copper Canyon. The first two days of this trip we will be riding on paved roads as we ride towards the Sierra Madres. When we arrive there will be off-road portions of the expedition throughout Copper Canyon. This ride is intended for riders who are somewhat comfortable and have off road riding experience. This ride is perfect for thrill seekers and adventurists as even the paved road portions can consist of gravel surfaces, occasional stream crossings, and everything in between including some very fun and sporting paved mountain passes.

This area of “Old Mexico” is where we began the “adventure touring” movement. Some of our first rides and tours were into the depths of Copper Canyon riding through this massive complex of canyons, rivers, and high mesas. There is a reason why this early destination of MotoDiscovery still remains on our menu of tours to this day. This area is absolutely beautiful and something every adventure tourist should experience at least once, if not once a year.

We will experience everything that cultural Old Mexico has to offer. From our encounters with the Tarahumara Indians you will experience a cultural time warp. This native culture lives off the land in a way that many of us take for granted today. The Copper Canyon Expedition is far from the typical tourists’ path. We will have genuine people to people connections where we can truly learn from a culture different from ours. The people are humble and gracious and a real treat to spend time with.

Many riders choose this as a “starting off point” into the world of adventure travel. It is a great warm-up before you go on longer and more challenging rides. That is not to say that this ride lacks excitement. With the paved roads taking away some of our favorite thrill rides we are pushing even further into the Sierra Madres to “get a little dirty”.
