Former NFL star and Hollywood actor O.J. Simpson has been sentenced to 15 years in a Nevada state prison for kidnapping and robbery charges tied to an incident at a Las Vegas hotel in September 2007. Simpson won't be eligible for parole for 7 1/2 years. Simpson was facing a minimum six years in prison for his involvement in the incident in which he was attempting to retrieve items that he said were his from two sports memorabilia dealers, Alfred Beardsley and Bruce Fromong. During his confrontation, which took place at the Palace Station casino hotel, Simpson brandished a gun, making the crime more serious. Clark County District Court Judge Jackie Glass was matter-of-fact in handing down her sentence, seemingly ignoring the pleas of leniency from Simpson’s attorneys. She said the evidence was overwhelming, telling Simpson everything had been recorded and called the event violent and there was intent behind the act. Simpson, along with co-defendant Clarence "C.J.” Stewart, were convicted of 12 criminal charges related to the kidnapping and robbery on Oct. 3.
