15 Most Wanted Fugitive Keith Hasson Captured

Keith Hasson, a drug trafficking ring leader on the “15 Most Wanted” fugitives list, was captured in Los Angeles on Wednesday. The U.S. Marshals Service announced Hasson, who has an extensive criminal history that includes arrests for attempted murder, robbery and assault with a deadly weapon, was taken into custody around 11:20 a.m. at an apartment on Victory Boulevard. The 45-year-old is believed to have lived at the apartment for at least a year.

"Keith Hasson had a long run as a leader of a criminal organization. Thanks to the Marshals and their law enforcement partners, that long run has come to an end,” said Geoff Shank, the acting assistant director of the U.S. Marshals Service’s Investigative Operations Division.

Authorities say Hasson led a massive drug trafficking ring that operated throughout the United States between 1999 and 2005. The ring generated more than $20 million distributing cocaine and marijuana. A federal warrant for Hasson’s arrest was issued in 2005 after the U.S. District Court in New Mexico indicted him on charges of continuing criminal enterprise, conspiracy to distribute controlled substances and conspiracy to launder money. His brother, Anthony Hasson, was sentenced to more than 24 years in prison in the same case.
