'Pirates' don’t share; take box-office for third week in a row.

Johnny Depp’s Jack Sparrow soars to record; fastest picture to cross $300 million in domestic box-office sales.

For the third week in a row, Pirates of the Caribbean was the crown jewel at movie theaters. Depositing an additional $35 million to their treasure trove, Disney witnessed the eclectic film surpass the previous record for fastest to the $300 million mark. It took 16 days for Dead Man’s Chest to surpass the mark, one day quicker than Star Wars: Episode III- Revenge of the Sith.

The $321 million brought in by Johnny Depp and company has already eclipsed the $305 million in domestic box-office sales its predecessor, The Curse of the Black Pearl, registered during its six month run. Ironically, Disney’s highest grossing domestic movie is Finding Nemo, another aquatic adventure. Pirates is expected to pass the $339 million earned by that film some time this week.

New releases Monster House and Lady in the Water took second and third for the weekend. While Monster House was considered a success at $23 million, M. Night Shyamalan's Lady in the Water fell well below expectations totaling just over $18 million. The man responsible for the blockbusters The Sixth Sense and Signs might struggle to find success with his latest $55 million dollar project.

Rounding out the top five in domestic gross totals for the weekend were a pair of comedies. You, Me and Dupree, starring Owen Wilson was just under $13 million bringing its two week total to $45.3 million. Little Man racked in $11 million to bring its two week total to $40.6 million in ticket sales.

On the international scene Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest was the number one draw in Australia, Bulgaria, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Russia, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine and the United Kingdom.
