Weight loss & fitness myths that I want to clear up! ⁣👇🏼


🍕Individual foods make you fat. ⁣
No single food will automatically make you gain fat by eating it. Pizza won’t make you gain fat if you’re in a deficit. Neither will sugar, or cheeseburgers, or ice cream, cookies, etc. ⁣

🏃🏼‍♀️You have to do tons of cardio to lose fat. ⁣
You actually don’t have to do any cardio. Or any exercise for that matter. Fat loss comes from a calorie deficit which can be done through nutrition alone. Exercise just has added benefits. Strength training will preserve your muscle while cutting calories. But you don’t have to do hours of cardio to lose fat. ⁣

🥖Carbs make you fat. ⁣
Any food that puts you in a caloric surplus will make you gain fat. Carbs do not make you fat. You can lose body fat while consuming carbs. Calorie deficit. ⁣

🥒You need a detox or cleanse. ⁣
Good news, your body detoxes naturally. You do not need a liver or kidney detox. If your liver or kidneys are not detoxing, you need to see a doctor, not take a cleanse. ⁣

🌙Eating at night makes you fat. ⁣
Not true! Eating too many calories makes you fat. As long as your overall calories are in check for the day, doesn’t matter what time you eat. I eat my daily treat every night before bed. 😋⁣

👉🏼You can target areas to lose fat. ⁣
No matter how many crunches you do, it will not help you lose fat there directly. Being in a calorie deficit will help you lose belly fat. And arm fat. And leg fat. You cannot choose where you lose fat, just like you don’t choose where you put it on. Be patient, everyone’s got their own “stubborn” areas. ⁣
