John Quagliani does not know how to take no for an answer.
Fifteen years ago, Quagliani found himself unemployed for the first time in his life. A former vice president of sales marketing and business development, Quagliani was considered a high-end wage earner, further hindering his chances of landing a job. With no savings to speak of, his credit cards maxed out, Quagliani made a fairly brazen decision given his predicament: he would start his own company finding jobs for other people.
“I had zero knowledge of the industry. I just went out and started knocking on doors,” recalls Quagliani. “But I learned some things about myself I didn’t really know: I enjoy motivating people and I hate to lose. That’s the kind of person you want on your side when you’re looking for a job.”
Today, Quagliani’s company Buzy Bodies (http://www.jobsannex.com) specializes in helping minorities find gainful employment by collaborating with employers to meet their human resource needs more efficiently. Buzy Bodies’ value-added services allow employers to concentrate on what’s truly important – the business of their business – by helping to limit their exposures, meet their payroll, pay taxes, and most importantly, find the right people for the right job.
“Human resources are a company’s most valuable asset,” says Quagliani. “The majority of companies are very good at what they do but they fall short when it comes to human resources. We are your off-site human resource connection.”
When it comes to searching for employment, says Quagliani, you need to make finding a job your full time job. Quagliani himself was a very aggressive job searcher, pounding the pavement each day, introducing himself to potential employers and following up. While the Internet has made looking for job openings easier, Buzy Bodies encourages its applicants to take this same aggressive approach to separate themselves from their competition.
“The most qualified person for the job does not get the job,” explains Quagliani. “The person who gets the job is the person they like. So as a job seeker, you need to keep a lot of balls bouncing. Ask yourself, “Are you doing everything you need to do to get a job? How bad do you really want it? Most people are not going to take the aggressive approach, but it really works.”
Close-Up Talk Radio will feature John Quagliani in a four-part interview with Jim Masters on May 10th and May 17th at 4pm and with Doug Llewelyn on May 24th and May 31st at 4pm EST.
