Close Up TV News recognizes Lucy Peters International for their outstanding commitment to innovation and service.
For almost 40 years Lucy Peters of Lucy Peters International (http://www.lucypeters.com) has been at the forefront of cutting edge hair removal technology, developing revolutionary methods to turn the previously empty promises of the hair removal industry into a reality. In the process she’s improved the quality of life of her patients in ways no electrologist has ever been able to accomplish and established Lucy Peters International as the gatekeeper to a brave new world for the hair removal industry: a brave new world where hair is actually removed.
“You need to be a special kind of person to do this job,” says Lucy Peters. “You have to be very empathetic.”
When it comes to the subject of permanent hair removal nothing is at it seems. Despite being largely ignored by the medical community the process of having one’s hair removed through the use of conventional electrolysis and lasers has been largely accepted as the definitive solution to a common problem. These methods have been so universally accepted the removal of hair is now a $4 billion business.
With that kind of money to be made it would be difficult to find anyone willing to rock the boat and ask the questions that need to be answered. Foremost among them: Are these methods truly effective? According to Lucy Peters the answer to that question is an emphatic “No.” In fact, she considers the removal of hair through lasers to be one of the beauty industry’s greatest deceptions.
“The electrolysis industry is marked by a great deal of ignorance,” says Peters, “When I entered the industry it was very amateur, very poor results and as a result a lot of damage was being done to patients. There was really no cohesive technical knowledge about what we were doing.”
Peters’ proprietary system, developed over decades of research through collaboration with master dermatologists and engineers, uses electric current specific to the hair being removed. That specific current and its intensity are what kill the hair. Lasers are not permanent; Lucy Peters’ system is.
“I wish I didn’t have to call myself an electrologist,” says Lucy Peters. “I wish I had another name because within the world of electrolysis we are so different. There’s just nothing like us.”
