Close-Up TV News Recognizes Stanley Services, Inc.

Stanley Services, Inc. is not the construction company building a new shopping center on every corner. Instead, they are the company laying gas pipeline from Oklahoma City to Corpus Christie, or building a production plant for Coca-Cola or Sherwin Williams. With construction capabilities including everything from civil, electrical, mechanical engineering and design to structural steel fabrication, Stanley Services has the experience and technical knowledge to deliver complex construction projects on time and on budget.

The company has two major divisions: Industrial and Gas. The Industrial division then has two main subdivisions. The first of these subdivisions is Manufacturing. Manufacturing jobs can include things like food and beverage plants. The second main subdivision on the industrial side of the business is equipment installation. These projects can include anything from the concrete foundations to concrete work, mezzanine and catwalk fabrication, and equipment installation of all kinds including installing tanks and electrical work. The Equipment Installation subdivision also installs equipment and piping for companies that provide material equipment like moving plastic resins and chilled water piping.

The other main division of the company is Gas, and it is this division that installs compressor stations, also called booster stations, for the gas company; this is where the installation of pipelines comes in. Stanley Services does the site work and gets the ground ready for what is usually a two-acre site. Concrete work and putting in suction and discharge piping is a big part of it as well and installing compressor stations accounts for about half of the company’s business.

“This kind of work is very specialized,” says Curtis Stanley, the company’s President and CEO. “It requires people with a very narrow skill set that few people even know about. A rig welder, for example, has to take tests every six months. These are professionals who really have to stay on top of their craft.”

One of the most important aspects to any job, regardless of the division and skills required, is Stanley Services’ commitment to safety. All employees and supervisors are trained in recognition, avoidance, and prevention of conditions that lead to accidents. As part of their hiring process, new employees go thru HAZCOM and PPE training and testing. Over the past three years, Stanley Services has had no lost time accidents.

“Stanley Services has finished every job we have been hired to do,” says Stanley. “In the eight years of our company’s existence, we have never been unable to finish. This is not to say there have never been problems, but even when they do occur, Stanley Services does whatever it takes to complete the job. We don’t leave until the customer is satisfied.”
