Amity Global School, Gurgaon, celebrated its Annual day on 18th February 2019. The theme of the Annual Day was, “Quintessence of Uniqueness”. This was inspired by the vision of our respected Founder President Sir- Dr Ashok Kumar Chauhan and Chairperson, Dr.(Mrs.) Amita Chauhan’s vision of nurturing global citizens who take pride in their own identity and appreciate the commonalities in human experience. At Amity Global School, the multi-cultural students’ community from 28 countries around the world, are encouraged to promote inter-cultural understanding to appreciate their similarities and celebrate their differences leading to a world without boundaries.
AGS, Gurgaon was blessed by the presence of honourable Founder President, Dr. Ashok K Chauhan, revered Chairperson, Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan. We were truly blessed to have chancellor C5 Sir, Dr Atul Chuahan in our campus today, Vice Chairperson-Ms. Sapna Chauhan, Mrs. Pooja Chauhan-Vice Chairperson Of Amity Humanity Foundation, Mrs. Divya Chauhan, Chairperson. The occasion was graced by Mr Mahesh Balakrishnan- IB development and recognition manager.
The programme began with the live performance of the school band followed by the opening Kuchipudi dance and the auspicious lighting of the lamp accompanied by Saraswati vandana. The school Principal, Mrs. Arti Gupta, addressed the gathering and shared the Annual school report on the journey of the school- history, growth and way forward of AGS, Gurgaon.
“Quintessence of Uniqueness” is a creative musical expression highlighting the importance of inter-cultural understanding to usher in the spirit of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.”
The production demonstrated different perspectives from individual, social and cultural facets to express and promote commonalities of human experiences. The performance showcased the progression in the life of Polka through the encouragement of his teacher, looking back at the historical past to understand the significance of the mother tongue, sharing of different cultural experiences and a futuristic peek into the world of robots- all appreciate differences. The performance reached a climax with a choreographed piece with the live poetic rendition of Maya Angelou’s poem “ Still I rise” signifying the power of women as she plays different roles in the society.
The school choir and the talented orchestra played live throughout the play. The orchestra played the piano, drums, bass and acoustic guitars. Students performed different genres of dance - Kuchipudi, Bihu, Ballet, Hawaiian, Hip-hop and Contemporary.
This year the Fencing and Archery was also showcased live by students.
All students, from Pre-Nursery (2 years old) to Grade 12, of Amity Global School, Gurgaon, participated in this production.
The audience included dignitaries from the education sector, parents, Principals, teachers and staff of Amity group of schools.
