Nick Cannon Diagnosed With Autoimmune Disease
Nick Cannon has revealed he suffers from a lupus-like autoimmune disease that is not curable. Lupus is an autoimmune disease that can affect the skin, joints and organs. Doctors discovered Cannon’s condition after his recent hospitalizations for mild kidney failure and blood clots in his lungs. The radio personality and TV host tells People magazine he is now “just trying to make sure I put my health first.”
In addition to getting at least 6 hours of sleep each night and cutting back on work, Cannon is spending more time relaxing at home with wife Mariah Carey and their 10-month-old twins. "It's a lot of stuff, but it's all in order now,” Cannon says of his health issues.
“The blood clot thing was probably the scariest because ... I've known people who have passed away from that," the 31-year-old tells People. "I feel blessed to be alive. If it wasn't discovered, I don't know [what would have happened]."
