Survivor Recap: Greek Gods Vs Village People
Last week the guys made arguably the dumbest move ever in Survivor history – they gave up immunity to the girls just so they could go to tribal council and send Bill packing. This week’s episode begins with the girls feeling good about the guys’ apparent meltdown. They all agree that if they stick together they can make it far in the game.
Girl power is short lived since Jeff Probst makes a surprising announcement before the rewards challenge. He tells both tribes to drop their buffs because two new tribes will be formed. Each person is given a paint-filled egg to smash. Everyone with orange paint is the new Manono tribe while everyone with blue paint is the new Salani tribe.
Colton, Tarzan, Alicia, Monica, Jonas, Leif and Christina make up Manono, and Kat, Kim, Troyzan, Jay, Mike, Sabrina and Chelsea make up Salani. Colton aptly describes the situation as Greek Gods vs. village people. He points out that Salani scored all the muscle in Mike, Jay and Troyzan.
The new tribes come with another twist – camps will now be separated. The tribe that loses the reward challenge will be sent to the new camp. In addition to scoring coffee and PB&J sandwiches, the winning tribe will remain at the old camp.
The challenge involves using a bucket filled with holes to transport water to a larger bucket. The tribe to make their bucket heavy enough to raise a flag wins the reward. Salani’s strategy to carry more water on each trip paid off and they win the challenge.
At the new Manono camp, Colton doesn’t waste time forming a new alliance. He bonds quickly with Alicia and gains the trust of the other girls. Over at Salani, Kim’s hunt for the hidden immunity idol pays off. She shares her find with Chelsea.
The immunity challenge is basically water basketball. The first tribe to score three baskets wins immunity. Mike’s height proves to be invaluable and he wins the challenge for Salani. Monica scored Manono’s only basket, but her strength in challenges makes her a target back at camp. Colton orchestrates her blindside with everyone but Christina. Monica is sent packing at tribal council.
