Survivor Star Rob Mariano Gets a Reality Show
Rob Mariano, known as Boston Rob to Survivor fans, is headed back to reality TV after the season finale of Survivor: Redemption Island. Mariano will star alongside Dennis Anderson on an upcoming History Channel reality show called Around the World in 80 Ways.
Mariano and Anderson will compete against one another to travel around the world using 80 different means of transportation without repeating any method.
“This series captures History’s commitment to highly compelling entertainment within a historical framework. The dynamic between our two hosts will make for great television, while viewers can journey around the world with them to explore the ingenuity of travel in every era, throughout all stages of technological advances,” History Channel senior VP of development Dirk Hoogstra said in a statement.
Mariano has competed on Survivor four times. He and wife Amber Brkich competed together twice on The Amazing Race. "I think The Amazing Race gave me a foundation for traveling. However, the approach that we are taking in Around the World in 80 Ways is completely different from anything I've done before in that this show will be a celebration of transportation throughout history,” Mariano tells People magazine.
Anderson is perhaps best known as the creator and driver of the monster truck Gravedigger. He has appeared on America’s Toughest Jobs and Monster Jam.
