The theme on Dancing with the Stars this week was guilty pleasures, so the stars danced to songs they were embarrassed to admit they like. To go along with the theme, Hanson kicked off the show by performing their 1996 hit ‘MMMBop.’ Between dances they sang other guilty pleasure songs like ‘Ice Ice Baby’ and ‘Achy Breaky Heart.’
Romeo’s determination to earn a 10 last night paid off – he was given the first 10 of the season after performing a romantic waltz to the Titanic theme song, ‘My Heart Will Go On.’ Carrie Ann Inaba said the performance had a “magical” quality about it while Len Goodman praised Romeo for the maturity he shows in his performances. Carrie Ann awarded the 10 while Len and Bruno Tonioli went with 9’s. Romeo took first place with 28 points.
Joining Romeo at the top of the leader board was Chelsea Kane, who also earned a 10 and two 9’s for a total of 28 points. Chelsea performed an energetic quickstep to “Walking on Sunshine.” Len said the dance was “so bright and luminous” that he was getting a suntan. Bruno thought he detected a slight misstep at the end, but Carrie Ann thought it was perfect.
Landing in second place with 27 points was Hines Ward, who danced a Viennese waltz to Boyz II Men’s ‘End of the Road.’ Carrie Ann did not like that Hines appeared to be thinking about the dance while performing it and Len warned the football star about being flat footed. Despite the criticism, Len declared Hines the “MVP: most valued partner.”
In third place with 26 points was Kirstie Alley. She performed a samba to Britney Spears’ ‘Baby One More Time.’ Bruno declared Kirstie’s “wiggly bum sent shockwaves through the airwaves.” Len thought the samba was perfect for Kirstie.
Kendra Wilkinson finally pulled herself out of last place. She performed a hot samba to Ricky Martin’s ‘Livin’ la Vida Loca’ and ended the routine by dancing on the judges' table. Surprisingly, Len loved the performance. “The more you shake, the more I palpitate,” he said. “That was one of my guilty pleasures.” Kendra earned 25 points.
Ralph Macchio landed in fifth place with 24 points for his paso doble. He performed the routine to ‘Gonna Make You Sweat.’ Midway through the dance, Ralph’s cape got in the way of his partner and she took a bad tumble. Judges praised them for recovering so quickly. Bruno and Len both commented on the “fire” Ralph showed.
Chris Jericho took last place with 22 points for his tango to ‘Don’t Stop Believin.’ Bruno said Chris turned into “a lump of granite” during the dance. Carrie Ann admitted the performance was not exciting.
One more star will be sent packing tonight on the results show.
