The theme this week on Dancing with the Stars was “Ballroom
Greats.” To mark the occasion, successful Latin dancer Donnie Burns took a seat
alongside Carrie Ann Inaba, Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli as an honorary judge.
This week also held another special element – team dances.
The first team to hit the dance floor consisted of
Chelsea Kane, Romeo and Ralph Macchio. They performed a cha cha cha to Lady
Gaga’s Born this Way. Len said the trio did a “terrific job” while Bruno liked
the performance, but thought the group “lost sync” several times. Team Chelsea
earned 30 points.
The second team consisted of Hines Ward, Kendra Wilkinson
and Kirstie Alley. They also performed a cha cha cha. Bruno praised their “seamless”
transitions while Kirstie’s solo was declared “on fire” by Carrie Ann. Team
Hines also scored 30 points.
Tying in first place with 36 points a piece for their
individual performances were Ralph Macchio and Hines Ward. Ralph earned his
first 10 of the season after delivering a “vibrant” quickstep full of good
footwork. Hines also scored his first 10. He performed a tango that Bruno said
showed “the slinky smooth action of a hunter underground going for the kill.”
Chelsea Kane took second place with 34 points for her
paso doble. Judges gave the performance mixed reviews. Carrie Ann and Bruno liked the intensity
and the aggression of the dance while Len and Donnie thought there was too much
aggression and not enough “refinement.”
For the second week in a row, Kendra Wilkinson was able
to stay out of the bottom of the leader board. She landed in third place this
week with 31 points for her tango. Bruno praised Kendra for being “ladylike,
but still sexy.” Len thought the routine was “clean and clear.”
Taking fourth place with 30 points was Kirstie Alley. She
performed a jive. Carrie Ann thought the routine lacked jive moves. She also
pointed out places where Kirstie and partner Maksim Chemerkovskiy were out of
sync. Len thought her kicks were “leaden.”
After taking first place last week, Romeo found himself tying
with Kirstie in fourth place with 30 points. He performed a samba. Donnie
declared he had an “earthquake” in his shoes while Carrie Ann did not get a “samba
message.”
