Arnold Schwarzenegger Speaks Out on Split From Maria Shriver
Despite deciding to separate, Arnold Schwarzenegger says he and estranged wife Maria Shriver still love each other.
"We both love each other very much. We're very fortunate to have four extraordinary children. And we're taking it one day at a time. The bottom line is we want to thank all the people for their great, great support,” the actor and former California governor said Tuesday at the 63rd Israel Independence Day Celebration at Los Angeles’ Skirball Cultural Center.
"I just spoke to Maria an hour ago before I came here," he said. "We both were saying the same thing – we're extremely blessed to be surrounded by so many wonderful people, by so many wonderful friends."
Schwarzenegger and Shriver, who have been married for 25 years and have 4 children, announced their separation Monday in a joint statement. “This has been a time of great personal and professional transition for each of us. After a great deal of thought, reflection, discussion, and prayer, we came to this decision together,” the pair said. "At this time, we are living apart, while we work on the future of our relationship."
Meanwhile, Schwarzenegger is set to revive his acting career this year with several new film roles. He will reportedly begin filming on the drama “Cry Macho” this summer.
