Emily Maynard on The Bachelorette: Stop Focusing on Bentley
Emily Maynard weighed in on Bentley Williams -- The Bachelorette’s most famous villain – again this week in her video blog for Bachelor TV. This week’s Bachelorette episode featured Bentley’s departure. He told Ashley Hebert he was leaving to be with his young daughter, but the Salt Lake City resident told the cameras he really left because he was disappointed “ugly duckling” Ashley was the Bachelorette instead of the "breathtakingly beautiful" Maynard.
Maynard admitted Monday’s show was “hard” for her to watch. She also said she doesn’t believe Bentley would have behaved differently had she been the Bachelorette. "He clearly had an agenda for being on the show, and it wasn't to fall in love," she said.
“I also want to give him the benefit of the doubt though, because it’s hard for me to believe that someone could be that hurtful and just mean spirited," said Maynard.
"I'm really hoping we can stop focusing on all the negative, and focus on all the great guys that she does have there," she added.
For her part, Ashley has admitted to feeling “hurt” and “humiliated.” "I'm extremely humiliated. He had intentions to really hurt me – and he did,” the 26-year-old dental student tells People magazine. "I got played, just as maybe every woman in America has been played.”
