QVC Sweater Queen Jeanne Bice Dies at 71
TV personality Jeanne Bice has died. Bice, who was known as The Sweater Queen on home shopping channel QVC, passed away Friday at the age of 71. The cause of death was not revealed.
Bice appeared regularly on QVC to promote and sell her clothing line Quacker Factory. Her clothing was typically brightly colored and adorned with holiday themed pictures made out of sequins, beads and other material. Bice wrote about what prompted her to start Quacker Factory in her 2005 memoir 'Pull Yourself Up By Your Bra Straps and Other Quacker Wisdom'.
QVC executive vice president of merchandising Doug Howe offered condolences to Bice’s family. “Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and loved ones during this difficult time. ... Her passion and spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew her,” he wrote on a QVC forum.
QVC also posted a message on their website saying in part: “Jeanne chose to love. She loved what she did — creating Quacker Factory clothes, with ‘sparkle and shine’. Clothes that made people Happy. She loved QVC. Everything about it. She loved the people: the executives who ran it, and the production people who worked so hard to make every show perfect. She loved the famous stars who appeared there, and had to pinch herself when others considered her one.”
