Glen Campbell Reveals Alzheimer’s Diagnosis
In a new interview with People magazine, Glen Campbell reveals he has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. Campbell was diagnosed six months ago and said he decided to come forward with the news because he plans to perform a series of concerts this fall before the disease worsens.
"I still love making music," Campbell tells People. "And I still love performing for my fans. I'd like to thank them for sticking with me through thick and thin."
"Glen is still an awesome guitar player and singer," his wife Kim adds. "But if he flubs a lyric or gets confused on stage, I wouldn’t want people to think, 'What's the matter with him? Is he drunk?'"
As part of his farewell to fans, Campbell will release his final album, Ghost on the Canvas, in August. Over his 50 year career, Campbell has released more than 70 albums and won four Grammy Awards. He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2005. Campbell’s hits include “Rhinestone Cowboy,” “Wichita Lineman” and “Gentle on My Mind.”
