Elisabetta Canalis “Very Sad” Over Split From George Clooney
Elisabetta Canalis is having a hard time dealing with her split from George Clooney, her mother tells Italy’s Vanity Fair magazine. Bruna Canalis says her daughter has been “down in the dumps” since announcing the breakup last week.
"I've spoken to her, and she is very sad, but these things happen,” says Bruna.
Elisabetta isn’t the only one disappointed by the split; her father Cesare says he would have liked Clooney to be his son-in-law. "He certainly would have made a good son-in-law, but it's my daughter who has to decide,” Cesare tells Vanity Fair.
Elisabetta and Clooney dated for two years. Their different views of marriage may have caused the split. Clooney, 49, has publicly stated he will never marry again while Elisabetta recently said she will marry in the future. “I am a firm believer in marriage. In the future I will be married, but for the time being I am happy as I am,” she said in Chi magazine’s June issue.
