An investigation was launched and a recall was issued Saturday after two people discovered a dead bat in a bag of Fresh Express salad mix in Florida. Fresh Express immediately recalled Organic Marketside Spring Mix sold at Walmart Stores in the southeast. The bags are labeled with the production code G089B19 and a best by date of April 14.

The USDA, CDC and Florida Department of Health is involved in the investigation. "CDC recommends that anyone who ate the recalled salad product and found animal material in it contact their health department for evaluation. People who have eaten the recalled salad product and did not find animal material are not at risk and do not need to contact their health department," the CDC said in a statement.
