Drapes for windows come in various types of sizes and styles. Understanding their differences and their uses will help you to choose better the right kind of curtains that suits each window in your home. Window treatments are mainly three types as roller blind, curtains and shades. Here are some of the most common types of under the above three types and their uses.

Curtains

There are many types of curtains which you can use in your house. One of the most popular types is grommet curtains. Usually, grommet curtains are made using light to medium weight fabrics. They are easy to open and close. Another popular type is the tab top curtain. These curtains are usually very stable but it also makes it draw them open and close constantly. Many interior décor experts recommend tab top curtains for places where you do not have to open and close curtains regularly. Some of the most popular types are vertical ones which are popularly used in the patio door and floor to ceiling windows, Venetian type are horizontal slats attached to clothe strips called tape, panel blind which is also used in patio doors and large window, and mini and micro blind which hare smaller versions of the Venetian type. These are the easiest type of window treatment if you want to open and close them regularly. They can either be lifted or tilted from side to side allowing you to control the amount of sunlight that enters the room.

Shades

Shades to come in different sizes and types. But they can only be adjusted up and down as they are made of one piece of material like curtains. Some of the common types of shades are roman shades which are one of the traditional types, and adds a timeless look, cellular shades which are the best type if you want to control the room temperature, roller shades that can be rolled up and down whenever you want to control light of the room and solar shades that are very useful in blocking the glare of the sunlight, heat and UV rays.
