The defensive juggernaut that is the Arizona Cardinals is reeling after injuries to starting quarterback Carson Palmer and back-up Drew Stanton. Both are expected to be out for the season.Ryan Lindley, another Cardinals back-up, showed little in the way of what it takes to make it on the NFL level, throwing multiple errant passes over the heads of his receivers in Thursday’s game. After the game in St. Louis the Cardinals coaching staff began seeking out other options. The obvious choice for them became former Heisman winner, Tim Tebow. A standout in college football at the University of Florida, he struggled with passing accuracy at the NFL level. How soon many forget that Tebow’s college career ranks in the top 10, or even 5, of the greatest careers in college history. He was a baller in college, and given the right opportunity, might still be as a pro. With a playoff win under his belt Tebow (27) gives the team real playoff experience. And he is more than ready to leave television for another opportunity in the league that shunned him.Coach Bruce Arians said Tebow is a “winner” and would bring a tenacity to the QB position that has been lacking in recent games.
“We’ve been talking for a few days now, kind of since the St. Louis game,” said Arians. “I’m just excited to bring him [Tebow] in, really focus on football right now and maybe implement a Wildcat package before next week’s game [against the Seahawks].”
