Grilled Chicken Wrap Unassembled: Playing with the Flavors

Grilled chicken wraps can be customized in many ways. Traditionally, they are made up of tortillas, grilled chicken, cheese, sauces, and vegetables of your choice.

  • Tortilla: A good wrap starts with a good base. You can either opt for the classic white tortilla or a healthier version of it, such as whole wheat, corn, gluten-free, or multigrain. You can even go a little fancy with its flavors by choosing garlic herbs, sun-dried tomatoes, or spinach tortillas. The list goes on!
  • Grilled chicken: Imagine the chicken as the star of the show, with all the other ingredients surrounding it like a cozy tortilla embrace. Again, there are endless savory and spicy marination options, and you can pick any one you crave the most. Some examples include Tex Mex, BBQ, Buffalo, Peri Peri, Tarragon, and Mediterranean spices. The grilled chicken can be fillet-sized, cubed, sliced, or shredded, and functions as the main layer in your tortilla.
  • Cheese: Eating healthy can be a blast! Chicken wraps are a super fun way to keep things interesting while you munch on nutritious food. And guess what? Cheese takes it to the next level! Let’s get creative and amp up our wraps with some cheesy goodness! Pick your go-to cheese, whether it’s melty cheddar, gooey mozzarella, zesty feta, or smooth goat cheese to balance out those tangy sauces.
  • Sauce: The variation does not end here, we still have great room for creativity. Unleash the chef inside you and experiment with the tortilla sauce. If you want a rich delight, choose creamy ranch or Thousand Island dressing. Whereas if you crave spice, you can add a drizzle of siracha or chili oil to your sauce. Dressings or spreads made with olive oil, like hummus, are a great way to get healthy fats without piling on the calories. Spread your favorite blend of sauces on the tortilla and take your experience to new heights.
  • Vegetables: Add or omit whichever vegetables you desire. Generally, some crisp lettuce, iceberg, tomatoes, olives, bell peppers, and cucumber are veggies that complement wraps the most. If you are a fan of vegetables, you can even go overboard with them. Not a vegetable lover? You can completely abstain from them. Basically, do whatever you want with it, that’s the beauty of grilled chicken wraps

How to prepare a perfect grilled chicken wrap?

Step 1 – Gathering the ingredients

Before you start, make sure you have all the ingredients available and ready to use. This will keep the preparation hassle-free and smooth. You can customize the ingredients as per your needs and taste preference.

Step 2 – Preparing the chicken

If your chicken is in the freezer, remember to defrost it earlier. Once it is done, you can season the chicken with your favorite blend of spices and herbs. For example, garlic, paprika, black pepper, oregano, onion powder, vinegar, chili flakes, etc. If you have more time, you can marinate it and set it aside for an hour or two. This allows the flavors to infuse into the chicken properly.

                Step 3 – Grilling

After marination, the next step is to cook the chicken. Start by heating some oil in a pan or fire up your outdoor grill. Lay the seasoned chicken fillets on the grill, cooking them on both sides until juicy, tender, and fully cooked. Make sure the center of the chicken hits at least 165°F (74°C) by using a kitchen thermometer to check. Once done, take the chicken off the grill and let it sit for about 5 minutes. Meanwhile, you can grill the tortilla to make it warm and crispy.

Step 4 – Preparing the sauce

Prepare the sauce of your choice. Examples of sauces you can go for include sour cream. garlic mayo, caesar sauce, ranch, cheese sauce, tomato ketchup, or mustard.

                Step 5 – Layering

Next comes the fun part, layering your wrap. Lay the tortilla flat and spread your sauce over it. Then, add a fresh leaf of lettuce or crunchy iceberg together with any other vegetables you want. Add the chicken and elevate your wrap game by topping it off with the cheese of your choice. Wrap, serve, and enjoy!
