Hillary Clinton Leaves Hospital, Full Recovery Is Expected

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton left a New York hospital Wednesday after three days of treatment for a potentially life-threatening blood clot between her brain and skull. The 65-year-old wore sunglasses and a dark coat as she left New York-Presbyterian Columbia Hospital hand-in-hand with her daughter Chelsea. Former President Bill Clinton followed behind.

The appearance was Clinton’s first since battling a severe stomach flu in early December. The sickness led to dehydration, which caused Clinton to faint and suffer a concussion in the fall. The blood clot was discovered behind her right ear during an appointment relating to the concussion. Clinton was admitted to New York-Presbyterian Columbia Hospital on Sunday.

In a statement confirming the politician’s release, spokesman Philippe Reines said Clinton’s doctors “advised her that she is making good progress on all fronts, and they are confident she will make a full recovery.”

Clinton’s condition is not holding her back from communicating with her staff or other officials. State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said Clinton "has been quite active on the phone with all of us, but she also made some calls on Saturday to a couple of foreign officials.”
