Ted Williams Taken Into Police Custody After Altercation With Daughter

Ted Williams, the homeless man who became a YouTube sensation for his “golden voice,” was taken in to custody by Los Angeles police Monday night after an altercation with his daughter. Williams and his daughter were removed from the Renaissance Hotel around 9 p.m. after police received a disturbance call.

A spokesman for the Los Angeles police department confirms two people were taken from the hotel to a Hollywood police station, but the rep insists no one was arrested or charged in the incident. “An investigation was conducted and two individuals were transferred to the Hollywood station. No one was arrested or booked for any crime in relation to this incident,” said spokesman Bruce Borihanh.

Williams’ manager told the Associated Press he will issue a statement on what happened. “Once we get all the facts, it’ll be out there for everybody to have,” he said.

Williams shot to fame last week after The Columbus Dispatch aired a video of him on the streets holding a sign about his voice. Since then the 53-year-old has been offered numerous voice-over jobs, including an announcing job for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
