Exam is highly competitive test designed to assess the knowledge and
skills of the candidates in the field of mathematics. The exam is held
twice a year, typically in June and December.
Eligibility Criteria For Csir Net Mathematics Exam
Before going into the exam preparation part first understand the eligibility criteria for giving the Csir Net Mathematic exam
1. Educational Qualification
- Candidate should have master degree or equivalent in mathematics from a recognized university.
- The minimum percentage is 55 percent for the general category candidates and 50 percent for OBC, SC/ST, and PWD candidates.
- Age Limit
- For
the junior research fellow ship candidates not more than 30 years of
age and as the first month of the exam there is relaxation of 5 years
for Sc/St/Obc/Pwd/female candidates. - There is no upper age limit for lectureship.
Csir Net Mathematics Exam Pattern
The exam consists of three parts. The exam consists of 120 questions, with a maximum score of 200 marks.
Part A: General Aptitude:
- In this there are 20 questions with the topics- logical reasoning, general awareness, and analytical ability.
- Maximum number of questions to attempt 15.
- Maximum marks 30.
Part B: Subject Specific
- In this part there are 40 questions with the core concepts in mathematics.
- Maximum number of questions to attempt 25.
- Maximum marks 75.
Part C: Subject Specific Advance Level:
- In this their 60 questions including advance mathematics and specific topics complex analysis, algebra, topology, real analysis.
- Maximum number of questions to attempt 20.
- Maximum marks 95.
Part
B and Part C are designed for the candidate to test the in depth
knowledge of the subject, analytical skills, and problem solving
capabilities.

- Numerical Analysis -Numerical solutions of algebraic equations, linear algebraic equations, Finite differences, Lagrange, Numerical solutions.
- Differential Geometry-Curves and surfaces, Frenet Serret formulas, curvature.
- Mathematical Modeling and Methods- Fourier series, Laplace transforms, difference equations, and numerical methods.
