Here's some of what's taking place the weekend of Mar 20th. Third weekend in March of 2015. If you're not watching sports or college basketball on TV you could stroll along the Battery or thru the market. Be a tourist in your own home town. Check out our many fine golf courses around the lowcountry. Get out and be social and help boost the economy. Downtown Charleston and the entire low country will be buzzing this weekend.
College basketball including the NCAA Tournament & NIT Tourney will be all over big screens TVs in your favorite local watering holes this weekend. Here's to your favorite team.
Charleston Fashion Week will be in full swing this weekend. Showcasing emerging designer and model talent across the East Coast, Baker Motor Company Charleston Fashion Week has fast become one of the premier fashion weeks in North America since its founding in 2007. Held March 17-21st under the tents in Marion Square this five-night celebration will feature more than 35 runway shows, the Emerging Designer Competition: East, the Spring Bridal Show, and the Rock the Runway Model Competition. Water Missions host 'Walk For Water' this Saturday beginning at 9am at Brittlebank Park. The Walk for Water is a walking event. Thus this year's theme, No Running! Together, we'll all slow down and focus our attention on those in need around the world. The Walk for Water experience takes about 1-1.5 hour to complete. Including opening and closing ceremonies, we typically wrap up around 12:00. Food Trucks will be available for lunch. Cost is $20, $15 for students, $5 for kids, with kids under 5 free. Come out and support a worthy cause.
The Charleston Birthplace Gala takes place Saturday 6-9pm at The Southerly 730 Coleman Blvd. Mt. Pleasant. Fine dining, live music and drinks for a great cause on the outdoor patio. Sip on some wine or beer provided by Holy City Brewing while admiring art available for purchase by silent auction and indulge on the fine dining provided by Southerly. Are you ready for soccer. Coach Mike Anhaeuser and the Charleston Battery get down to business on Saturday with its 2015 USL Regular Season kickoff against expansion Toronto FC II, the new USL franchise operated by Toronto FC of Major League soccer. Hop in bed and roll down to Blackbaud Stadium on Sunday and enjoy a bit of bedlam at the 6th Annual Charleston Bed Race presented by APECS. Around 1:00pm teams of 5 (in costume should they chose) will present their decorated beds in a grand parade before the judges and spectators. Then teams will race in heats of two while being timed and judged, completing a distance of approximately 2 city blocks. The fun continues until we have a Bed Race Champion, who will reign for the year!
Mount Pleasant Towne Centre on 17N in Mount Pleasant will host a Boat Show this weekend on site. Open 12-6pm Friday, 10-6pm on Saturday, and 11-6pm Sunday. Over a dozen boat dealers represented with daily specials and additional vendors. Come on out and get ready for boating season.

A lot happening at the North Charleston Coliseum complex this weekend. The 3rd annual Charleston Blues Festival takes place at the PAC on Saturday night featuring Mel Waiters, Klass Band, Sir Charles Jones, Theodis Ealey, and Shirley Brown. Prices range from $43-$54. Doors at 7pm for 8pm start. Heralded singer songwriter Sarah McLachan performs at the PAC 7:30pm on Sunday night.
