The December issue of OM-Times magazine features an article by dream analyst, David Rivinus. The article is entitled “When Dream Visions Blend with Life” and begins on page 46. What follows is the link to the current online issue: http://www.editions.omtimes.com/magazine/2015-12-A/
Rivinus’ article deals with a problem that is rare, but disconcerting. There are those who encounter difficulty distinguishing between images they see in their minds and the ones that come to them from real life. Rivinus uses the example of a young man who attended his class. This individual preferred to be accompanied by his girlfriend when he went out, because he sometimes couldn’t tell if what he was seeing in busy intersections was coming from the street or from his mind. Not knowing if there was a car approaching or not was upsetting.
In the article, Rivinus points out that individuals with strong psychic capabilities are especially prone to these confusing phenomena.
However, he adds that even for those who experience life more normally, the separation between psychic, inward vision and objective seeing is far less pronounced than is usually believed. He says that inner images, like the ones experienced by the disconcerted young man, appear in the same place in our minds as the scenes of our dreams. In fact, they are essentially dreams themselves. “Dreaming doesn’t stop when we wake up in the morning,” he explains. According to him, it goes on throughout the day.
He goes so far as to say that even the images from real life are dreams. “There are two ways in which we can experience life,” he says. “On the one hand, it is an objective experience. On the other, it is a metaphoric communication, full of dream symbols.”
The OM-Times article follows this train of thought, offering examples of the kinds of real-life experiences that Rivinus refers to as “waking dreams.” He concludes by offering a solution to the confusion experienced by those who have this kind of psychic predisposition. Basically, he feels that life is asking the affected individual to recognize the similarities between the inner and outer experiences. “When they do, the confusion tends to dissipate,” he says.
Rivinus is a dream analyst with over three decades of international experience. OM-Times is a respected online journal that features articles on metaphysical subjects. For more information, visit www.teacherofdreams.com.
