Celebrate Hope at Hope By The Sea offers the most up to date best practices in addiction treatment which is coupled with Christian support and guidance. In a continuing effort to fine tune our faith based healing and recovery services and to reach more families, we are pleased to receive referrals from the International Christian Recovery Coalition.

The International Christian Recovery Coalition was formed in 2009 by Dick Burns and his son Ken Burns.  Dick Burns is known to most people in the recovery world as Dick B. and his story of recovery is compelling, particularly as his body of work includes his own in depth study of the history of Alcoholics Anonymous.  When planning their first conference, interventionist Bobby Nicholl of Celebrate Hope welcomed the coalition to hold their conference on the grounds of Hope By The Sea, located in San Juan Capistrano, California.

In talking to Dick B about how common it is for people to reach out to him, either directly or through his website, in order to find a treatment program that offers a Christian faith based component, he offered the following observation:

“A week seldom passes without one or more phone calls from all over the world and without an email message from a pastor, recovery pastor, treatment leader, afflicted person, family or friend as to where they can find a program such as you mention. And we now have many places with which we are personally familiar or where we have spoken and which enable us to provide such information… counselors are hungry for approaches that offer deliverance, skilled leaders, training, and information many have heard all too little about. And, with my 46 published titles, over 1700 articles, radio interviews, and 28 years of experience with continuous sobriety and many sponsees—most receptive to belief in God, we offer them or their church or program material that just wasn’t known or unearthed until the 1990’s—and therefore has left a hole that needs to be filled with skilled programs like Mr. Nicholl’s Celebrate Hope at Hope By The Sea and sends patients out with a Christian message that can really help.”

Recently Dick B. wrote a brief article reviewing Celebrate Hope. Elaborating on Celebrate Hope at Hope By The Sea’s program he comments: “What has struck me about a number of Christian treatment or Christian recovery residences is how much of the early A.A. focus on the Bible, salvation, prayer, quiet time, and Christian literature is not present. Sometimes there is just a weekly Bible study. Sometimes a chaplain is on call.  But often there is little about the renewed mind, fellowship, witnessing, and healing. However, Celebrate Hope’s program is very strong, especially considering its similarities to the early A.A.’s “Christian fellowship” program in Akron which was focused on living in the homes, breaking bread together, Bible study, group prayer, optional worship at church, and use of Christian devotionals. Celebrate Hope at Hope by the Sea’s individual Christian counseling--which could allow for discussion of healing, Bible, sanctification, witnessing, and fellowship with like-minded believers—particularly caught our attention.”
