On August 10th at The famous Masquerade in Atlanta, Georgia, Tim Barry will be taking a musical journey very different than the ones he is used to taking. Tim Barry coming to Atlanta and The Masquerade is exciting because he will be bringing with him a collection of new songs. In 2012, his music took an unexpected turn from thinking about his own death to themes of resilience and hope that now permeate Barry’s new record “40 Miller,” which was released by Chunksaah, the NEw Jersey indie label, on April 10th. Barry says of the album, “If this record is uplifting compared to my old ones it’s because I feel stronger from all the beat-downs and [stuff] I’ve taken in the past.” His new and more hopeful-sounding list of music is taking his spare folk-country sound in a completely different direction. Tim Barry in 2013 is more raucous and takes a more rocking approach on several tracks. The new album will have a large variety of instruments such as an organ, piano, harmonica and more electric guitar, not to mention the voice of Julie Karr, the singer from Richmond, Virginia. Tim Barry will be in Purgatory at The Masquerade, on August 10th, starting at 7:30pm
