Republican Robert Bentley is the projected winner of Alabama's governor race with 57% of votes over Democrat Ron Sparks. Bentley promised to not accept the governor’s salary until Alabama’s unemployment rate drops to normal.
For the Senate seat, Republican Richard Shelby is the projected winner over Democrat William Barnes with 64% of the votes. This will be Shelby’s fifth term in the Senate. He was first elected in 1986 as a Democrat, but switch to the Republican Party in 1994.
