New York Knicks Forward Amar’e Stoudemire Announces Baby News
Amar’e Stoudemire ended 2012 with marriage to longtime love Alexis Welch, and now the New York Knicks forward is beginning 2013 with a baby announcement. Stoudemire tells People magazine Welch is pregnant with their fourth child. The baby is due in the spring.
“We’re blessed that we were able to extend our family,” he says. “We’re both huge on having a nice size family. It was something we’ve been talking about for a while. It happened naturally and at the right time so it all worked out.”
Welch tells People that Ar’e, 7, Amar’e Jr., 6, and Assata, 4, are “very, very excited” about their new sibling. “They just keep guessing if it’s a boy or a girl,” she says.
The children aren’t the only ones ready to know if the baby is a boy or a girl. “I can’t wait to know what it is,” adds Stoudemire.
Stoudemire, 30, and Welch, 29, tied the knot on December 12 in a very intimate, sunset ceremony in New York City. Held on the rooftop of the couple’s Greenwich Village apartment, the ceremony was attended by less than 7 guests. The newlyweds, who have been together for 10 years, are currently planning a larger summer wedding.
