NCAA Final Four Preview

Atlanta 4/3/2015 4:27:20 PM

So April is here, which means the final chapters of the 2015 March Madness are about to come to a close. The Final Four will take place in Indiana on Saturday when Kentucky takes on Wisconsin, and Duke squares off against Michigan State. The allure that this Final Four possesses over years prior is due to the amount of experience on the coaching end of these teams. This has to be the most decorated group of coaches that the Final Four has ever seen. When you compile the career records of the four coaches the total is a staggering 2,490-833. They also have collected 25 Final Four appearances and 6 National Championships.

The one thing about sports is the coaches don’t play. On Saturday, the pressure will be on the shoulders of the players. So let’s dive in to the breakdown. The most anticipated matchup of the two games will be the Kentucky vs. Wisconsin game. As we all know Kentucky hasn’t lost a game yet. My personal opinion they will not lose. When the brackets were released all you had to do was find where Kentucky was, and continue to write their name all the way to the final. The NCAA has never seen a team that has as much depth and talent that the Wildcats have on their roster this year. Could this be the repeat of the 1990-91 UNLV Runnin Rebels season? Labeled as one the greatest teams ever, after an undefeated regular season UNLV was denied back-to-back titles after Duke broke their hearts. Wisconsin has what it takes to play with Kentucky as they arguably have one of the best players in the nation in Frank Kaminsky. The matchup between Kaminsky and Willie Caulie-Stein will be a battle of two giants. My prediction in the end is Kentucky gets the victory and plays on Monday night.

Final score: Kentucky 68- Wisconsin 63

The matchup that is taking the back seat to the big dogs will be just as good; it just doesn’t have the flash. Michigan State will go to head-to-head against Coach K and the Duke Blue Devils. Tom Izzo has led the Spartans on a “Cinderella” like run throughout the post-season including the Big 10 Championship. The only loss that they have seen in the past month came at the hands of Wisconsin in the Big 10 title game. Even then the mighty Spartans took the Badgers into overtime but could not knock off Wisconsin. Duke has been solid all year, thanks in large part to Jahlil Okafor and Tyus Jones. They have been the two that have carried the Blue Devils along with the guidance of Coach K. This matchup should remain close throughout the entire game. Both teams play a similar style, which will probably prevent either team from taking control of the game. What would March Madness be without a crazy upset in the Final Four? Everybody will be picking Duke, not this guy. Michigan State will pick up the win in Overtime.

Final Score: Michigan State 83- Duke 81 (OT)
