The Golden State Warriors are one of the superior teams in the league for the 2014-15 season. They are a dynamic offense that can outscore almost any team in the league. After the 2013 season, the Warriors finished the season with a record of 51-31. They managed to make it to the playoffs where they took the Los Angeles Clippers to seven games but came up short in the final contest and were eliminated from postseason play. The loss in the first round of the playoffs ended up costing Mark Jackson his job as the Head Coach.
Firing Mark Jackson came as a surprise to fans and players due to the success that they have had in the past few seasons. The man hired to replace Jackson will be first time coach and former player Steve Kerr. Kerr was figured to be one of the leading candidates for the same position with the Knicks due to his ties with the new President, Phil Jackson. Ultimately it was the Warriors who won the prize of having Kerr as their coach.
Golden State has a roster that is stacked with talent at every position. Led by Stephen Curry, there is also David Lee, Andre Iguodala, Harrison Barnes, Andrew Bogut and fellow Splash Brother, Klay Thompson. All of those guys mentioned, should make the job of a first time head coach much easier. The Splash Brothers, Curry and Thompson, are a dynamic duo that can change the aspect of the game within a few minutes. Known for their ability to shoot the three, they can make a 12-0 run on teams between the two of them.
Problems with Golden State have always come down to the state of health on the roster. In any sport keeping star players healthy is priority number one. The Warriors have had issues keeping their two big men on the court. David Lee and Andrew Bogut have both been prone to injuries that take them off the court when they are needed the most. In the Western Conference you need all hands on deck in order to succeed. The Warriors should be able to return to the playoffs this season despite having a rookie head coach. Starting the season the Warriors currently have a record of 5-2. If they are able to remain healthy throughout the season the Golden State Warriors should see great success this season.
