The Chicago Bulls have been unable to win a NBA title ever since the departure of Michael Jordan. The last title came in 1998, and they have not reached the Finals since. Tom Thibodeau is the man looking to take the Bulls back to the Promised Land. The fourth year head coach of the Bulls has been able to take Chicago to the playoffs every year he has been in charge. In each of those seasons they have been one of the top two teams in the Central Division.
Coaching has not been an issue for the Bulls in recent years. The issues have stemmed from the injuries to Derrick Rose. Rose is an explosive point guard that can take over a game and make his teammates play better when they are on the court. In 2010, Rose took home the Most Valuable Player award and got the Bulls the number one seed in the Eastern Conference Playoffs. The next year he was performing at the same level and took Chicago back to the playoffs. However, during Game 1 in the opening round he tore his ACL in the left knee. The injury prevented him from playing in 2012. When he was healed and ready to go for 2013 the expectations for the Bulls were very high. Then lightning struck twice as Rose tore the meniscus in his right knee and was forced to miss another season.
Luckily for the Bulls, once again Rose is healthy and he is looking to stay that way for the entire 2014-15 season. The Bulls added depth and talent to the roster this season by signing Aaron Brooks and Pau Gasol to an already talented roster. The Bulls will try to cash in on an investment that was made back in 2011 as Nikola Mirotic will begin his NBA career. The Bulls drafted Nikola in 2011, but he stayed with his international team Real Madrid for 3 years. He is said to be one of the best shooters from long range in the NBA.
One player can’t make a team champions, ask LeBron about 2007 for proof. However, Rose will be the one to guide the Bulls back to NBA supremacy if his knees will hold up. The addition of Gasol to pair with Joakim Noah, Jimmy Butler, and Rose makes the Bulls one of the favorites to win it all in the Eastern Conference and possibly the entire league.
